Venturi scrubbers are widely used type of scrubbers in the industry for various applications. A Venturi wet scrubber system section always has uniform wet surfaces which avoids and eliminates wet and dry line build-up problems. Venturi scrubber has the following main components:

Flooded elbow

Separator

Mist eliminator

Throat can have different designed constructions like fixed, butterfly type or double flap type. Heavy dust laden gases are passed through the venturi unit in vertical direction. At the venturi section, scrubbing liquid is injected through tangential pipes and spray headers. This ensures complete coverage on venturi and throat area. The throat is operated in a manner to obtain the suitable pressure drop for getting the maximum collection efficiency. The scrubbed gases are then drawn into a cyclonic separator through a 90-degree flooded elbow. At the cyclonic separator gases and liquid droplets separation occurs.
